In the twenty-five years since its founding, the Friends have raised and contributed to the SMU Libraries more than $250,000 for the purchase of books, periodicals, musical scores, equipment, services, and other materials beyond the normal library budgets. Simultaneously, the Friends have presented a series of lively programs, hosted several library-oriented trips, and organized a number of rare book auctions, all of which have served to nurture a community of book lovers and library supporters. Three years ago the Friends launched an endowment campaign to assure a permanent source of funding beyond that afforded by membership dues alone. Our record is a proud one and serves as a challenge for the future.
